Outrage of the Week:

I stopped by Wendy's on my way home the other night to pick up a few jr. bacon cheeseburgers (a staple in my college life) only to find to my dismay that Wendy's in some strange plot to take over the world, or just make money... raised the price from 99 cents to 1.29! (That's like a 30% raise) That's outrageous, and I only had 2.14 with me, so I ended up getting 2 jr. cheeseburger deluxes... needless to say they were gross, and i was really ticked. What is this world coming to?

loco en la cabeza

Granted the school year is coming to a close and the weather is getting nicer outside every day, but is that any excuse for my students to turn into wild animals?

Sure they are licking themselves(yet) or scavenging for food, but is having students sitting still and quiet at their tables just too much to ask?

no t----ing day

today is no thinking day... don't do it. don't even ponder about doing it. don't use the word in a sentence, just simply try to go without it for one day. one day. no matter what you do today, don't do that. it will only make you less lazy and who wants to deal with that?

trust me it's a done deal.

this one's for you

please keep the family and friends of my friend nate mangels in your prayers, because nate passed away suddenly yesterday in a car accident. Thank God for the time that he had on this earth, and that his heart was in the right place. my thoughts and prayers are with you Nate. God Bless.

gradjimatation

i gradjimatated on saturday. i still have four weeks left of student teaching until i am done done, and oh what a sweet day that will be.

gradjimatation went well. my daddy spoke at the baccalaureate and did a top knotch job! the speaker at graduation however what not quite so fortunate. there was some business about singing to a cow, something else about popping a new calves gross fluid bubble, and then a whole bunch of stuff in between about right arms and left arms. it was quite a mess, but i made it through laughing with leash, the only other graduating art ed student.

i don't feel like any more of an adult, because i'm still here living off of my parents money. perhaps when i get a job and move to a new state my feelings will change.

don't get bitter, just have fun

My roommate Erin pointed me to this great website that has been a great help for the upcoming wedding season, which i will be participating in solo.

The website offers suggestions for what to carry with you to the reception... such as :

--Advil
--Tissues
--A cell phone (so you can call friends for moral support)
--Business cards (in case you meet someone cute)
--A spare pair of comfy shoes (so you can kick up your heels and get funky)
--A good excuse to leave early
--A list of fun things to do afterward (rent "Pirates of the Caribbean," enjoy a bubble bath, take Schedule 1 drugs)

Or things to say when put in uncomfortable conversational situations with relatives. For Example:

When they comment on how happy the bride is and how lucky she is and that her sister is pregnant, you can say:

"God bless -- they do make a perfect match! Now what about you? I hear from Aunt Ellen that you've got shingles."

If I've left you thirsting for more sweet suggestions check it out at http://women.msn.com/685471.armx?GT1=6448 Enjoy!

the kangawoo song!!!

there's something extremely masterful about watching a video 5 times.

yesterday and today my kindergartners were finishing up their rainbow fish projects, which have taken us about 6 weeks to complete. once they were done they got to watch the rainbow fish video. i cannot explain to you how awesome it is to watch the same kindergarten video FIVE TIMES IN A ROW. it really doesn't get any better.

i think i am beginning to understand how tough things can be for parents of young children when their child will have nothing else but the kangaroo song after their nap

Skivet...

The first graders at Wilson Elementary School are crazy... crazier than the 500 other students who come through my classroom during the week. When they are standing in line we play telephone with them to keep them quiet before they get to leave the classroom. Today Margaret (my co-op) gave them the words to pass along, and she chose Ms. Griffin. By the time that it got to the end of the line it turned out to be 'Skivet'.

'Skivet'?

How do you go from Ms. Griffin to Skivet? I certainly don't know, and it's not like the kids were making things up like 'black beans and rice' or something. i think 90% of them don't know my name... which is cool because i don't know 95% of theirs.

phew...

so i just completed my first phone interview with a school in texas.

i can't say whether or not they will give me the job, but i can say that i think i did well.

i tried to be as relaxed as possible especially when the headmaster of the school was 20 minutes late in calling me.

i'm just glad to be done with it. i will probably be hearing back from them in the middle of next week once they have narrowed it down to two candidates.

Oh it's on

I was told last night by a certain roommate that i talk to that my friend annika had come up with a much, much sweeter napolean picture than my tots could ever achieve.

I was forced to go in search of a 'sweeter pic', but seeing as i haven't been able to view the pic on annika's site

i am simply taking a shot in the dark with this pic. it remains to be seen whose is better. when necessary we will put it to a vote.
