Uncle Phil's Diner

Here's what has been keeping me so busy... but, as I learned this morning, I haven't gotten any less busy since we closed out the show yesterday. One of my students counted the number of days left in our school year, and it's 29... not counting the weekends of course. It's crazy how many things still need to be accomplished by the time those days are out. Ah how time flies. I can barely wait to be enjoying the weather and reading book after book.

moments of reflection

I came across this poem this evening, it was written by a dear friend of mine. And it reminded me of the many good friends; for whom these words ring all too true. I miss you all dearly.

"My Promise"

have you ever
watched the stars
on some
crystal clear night
and
(for a moment)
thought you saw-
a memory, a tear,
an unchartered portion of heaven itself-
and simply paused…?

there will come
(undoubtedly)
a lapse in time
when you will wander
alone
and think back to this ‘now’

there will be
(without fail)
those certain moments
when strengths will weaken
under
a veil of uncertainty

and then
(at the perfect element)
you will look
toward heaven
and catch a falling star-
the good-byes of tomorrow
which are now
the faded tears of yesterday-
and remember
the face of someone
frosted in a nostalgic somewhere
encompassed by a lost sometime

who
(hundreds of memories away)
is breathing
the same air-
under the crescent moon
which follow you-
and
(for a moment)
finds a distant tear
in a quilt of stars
with a simple pause…
for the distant harmony
of you
